Damon Lindelof Rumored To Be Working on a Star Wars Movie

According to The Ankler, Emmy winner Damon Lindelof (Watchmen, Lost, The Leftovers) is reportedly developing a new movie in the Star Wars franchise. The rumor has not yet been confirmed by Lindelof or Lucasfilm, but it’s no secret that Lindelof is a big fan of the Star Wars Universe and has previously expressed interest in one day doing something within that franchise.

In 2020, the writer/producer revealed he was interested in working on a Marvel Cinematic Universe project, saying it would be “potentially exciting for me, especially as they start to get a little more experimental,” before later adding: “And, at some point, but certainly not in the immediate future, I feel like I would love to do something in the Star Wars universe. Maybe a decade from now when I would no longer be blamed for ruining it. That would be a hoot.”

While we wait on official confirmation either way as to whether or not Lindelof will finally achieve his dream of playing in the Star Wars sandbox, the franchise itself continues on with Obi-Wan Kenobi set to arrive on Disney+ on May 25.

“The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader,” reads the official synopsis.
