The upcoming Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is rumored to feature a ton of cameos from a ton of different characters. When it comes to the Merc with a Mouth, though, don’t expect to see him show up.

“I’m really not in the movie,” Ryan Reynolds said when asked by Variety about whether or not Deadpool would be in the movie during a recent screening of his upcoming Netflix film The Adam Project. “I’m promising, I’m not in the movie.”

Reynolds’ comments come after fans noticed what appeared to be Deadpool’s face in the newest poster for the Doctor Strange sequel. While it remains to be seen whether or not the fan-favorite character does turn up, more Deadpool is on the horizon, with Reynolds also commenting on the third entry in the series, and noting that it was “coming along.”

Described as the first Marvel Cinematic Universe horror film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness sees the return of Cumberbatch as he reprises his role as Dr. Stephen Strange. This time the Sorcerer Supreme will be joined by Scarlet Witch, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, who is coming off from the critical success of WandaVision. The sequel is expected to tie into the events from WandaVisionLoki and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The sequel will also feature MCU alums Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams, who are reprising their roles as Karl Mordo, Wong, and Dr. Christine Palmer, respectively. It will also feature the introduction of the live-action debut of fan-favorite Marvel hero America Chavez, who will be portrayed by newcomer Xochitl Gomez (The Baby-Sitters Club).

The film is directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy) from a script written by Emmy-winning scribe Michael Waldron (Loki). It is executive produced by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
