Texas Chainsaw Massacre Photos Set Netflix Debut For Horror Sequel

Legendary has finally dropped first-look The Texas Chainsaw Massacre photos for the upcoming and newest installment to the iconic horror franchise, which will serve as a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 original film. The film is scheduled to make its debut next year on February 18, exclusively on Netflix.

The photos, which you can check out below, offer our first glimpse at Leatherface’s return along with new franchise characters, portrayed by Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Nell Hudson, and Jacob Latimore.

In a recent interview with EW, producer Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead) revealed some new details about the film’s version of the Chainsaw-wielding killer, describing him as someone who has been in hiding for a long time.

“It’s basically the same character, who is still alive,” Alvarez teased. “Our take on it was this guy probably disappeared after everything he’s done. You know, how do you catch a guy who has a mask? Once he removes the mask and runs away, it’s very easy for him to hide somewhere. This story will pick it up many, many years after the original story. He’s been in hiding for a long, long time, trying to be a good person. These people arriving in this town are going to awaken the giant.”

Netflix’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is directed by David Blue Garcia (Tejano) from a screenplay written by Chris Thomas Devlin (Cobweb), based on a story by Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues. It serves as a continuation of Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel’s 1974 seminal horror classic, reintroducing one of the most iconic villains of the horror genre to a whole new generation.

The new movie “takes place years after the shocking events of the original, in a setting where Leatherface hasn’t been seen or heard from since,” according to Netflix and Legendary. “The film seeks to pick up where the Hooper and Kim Henkel film initially left off, bringing the most notorious franchise back to life in the same bold and provocative manner that it was first introduced.”

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre stars Golden Globe nominee Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Mark Burnham (Wrong Cops), Moe Dunford (The Dig), Olwen Fouéré (Mandy), Alice Krige (Star Trek), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Nell Hudson (Victoria), Jessica Allain (The Laundromat), Sam Douglas (Snatch), William Hope (Dark Shadows), and Jolyon Coy (War & Peace).
