Captain Nemo Charts a Course at Columbia Pictures

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creative pair best known for creating “Smallville,” have, according to a story today at The Hollywood Reporter, sold their spec screenplay Captain Nemo to Columbia Pictures with Maleficent producers Joe Roth and Palak Patel set to produce.

Captain Nemo is said to offer a new look at the Jules Verne character (who appeared in multiple Verne stories, most notably Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas).

Walt Disney Pictures was planning their own reimagining of Nemo with a new 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea feature film. McG was, at one time, attached, as was David Fincher. The current state of that project is unknown.
