Chloe Zhao’s MCU Film Eternals Receives PG-13 Rating, Includes ‘Brief Sexuality’

According to Film Ratings, Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals has officially been given a PG-13 rating from the MPAA for “fantasy violence and action, some language and brief sexuality,” which teases the star-studded film’s epic scale. The Chloe Zhao-directed pic is currently slated for a 45-day exclusive theatrical run, starting on November 5.

Its theatrical release will see the film going up against no direct major competition. However, it is set to debut on the same month as other long-awaited films such as Ghostbusters: Afterlife, King Richard, and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.

Based on Jack Kirby’s Marvel comics of the same name, Eternals welcomes an exciting new team of superheroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The epic story, spanning thousands of years, features a group of immortal heroes forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s oldest enemy, The Deviants.

The film will feature the introduction of brand new MCU heroes including Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena. Kit Harington plays Dane Whitman.

Eternals is directed by Chloe Zhao, who is coming off from winning numerous awards including Best Picture and Best Director at the recent Golden Globe and Oscar awards. It is co-written by Matthew K. Firpo and Ryan Firpo with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige set as the producer.
