Patrick Seitz Didn’t Hesitate to Voice Scorpion in Mortal Kombat Legends Despite MK11 Recast

Patrick Seitz’s voice and Scorpion are almost inseparable. Seitz has portrayed the Shirai Ryu warrior in the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot, Mortal Kombat X, and the two most recent animated films. However, he wasn’t Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 11, something that shocked him after nearly a decade of portraying the character. Despite getting skipped over for the most recent game, Seitz did not hesitate to come back for the two Mortal Kombat Legends movies.

Seitz spoke about this in a recent interview with ComingSoon centered around Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms. In the interview, Seitz spoke about how he didn’t think twice about donning the mask and grabbing the kunai once again, even though it had been a few years since his last bout as the iconic yellow ninja.

“No hesitancy,” Seitz explained. “I didn’t look at it as closure. I think, if anything, these films really accentuate the point that you never know when the thing going to be done.”

He then took the opportunity to be humble and say that actors can’t take every job for granted.

“You don’t anyway because you don’t know from time to time when they’re going to want you, or when they’re going to want someone else,” he continued. “But it was such a joy to get contacted for the movies. I look at all of this as gravy, which is honestly how you should look at every gig anyway, because nothing is guaranteed. It’s been so much fun getting to spend more time in Scorpion’s shoes. I’m always grateful. I will not ever not pick up that phone. I will always answer the Scorpion phone, so to speak.”

Seitz had famously tweeted about finding out that he wasn’t Scorpion the night of the reveal in December 2018. But instead of sounding angry, it sounded more like he was more annoyed about not being told through an email or phone call beforehand. As he said, many people had been Scorpion over the years, but a heads up would have been “a very easy kindness to grant.”
