The latest project announced out of the Cannes Film Festival is the crime-thriller The Trust from Alex and Ben Brewer, which will team Nicolas Cage with “Boardwalk Empire” star Jack Huston. The Highland Film Group is handling worldwide sales for the new project co-written by Ben Brewer and Adam Hirsch.
The duo will play two “evil cops” who discover a hidden safe full of unknown contents, their desires to find out what’s inside putting them into a fight for their lives.

Highland Film Group announced today that Academy Award® winner Nicolas Cage (Adaptation, Leaving Las Vegas, Joe) and Jack Huston (American Hustle, Boardwalk Empire) will star in Alex & Ben Brewer’s new upcoming crime thriller, THE TRUST. The film is co-written by Ben Brewer and Adam Hirsch, with Molly Hassell and Braxton Pope producing. Mike Nilon will executive produce. THE TRUST is a Hassell Free Production in association with Electric Shadow Fund who is providing finance. Highland Film Group’s (HFG) Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier are executive producing and will be handling worldwide sales beginning at Cannes.
THE TRUST centers on two evil cops who discover a strangely hidden and guarded safe filled with mysterious contents. Their lust for it unexpectedly thrusts them into a deadly well of corruption leaving them fighting for their lives and unsure of who to trust.
HFGs slate also includes: Kevin Connollys THE WRIGHT GIRLS starring Jessica Alba, from Atlas Independent, the affiliate company of Charles Rovens Atlas Entertainment; the Brett Ratner produced teen-action comedy BARELY LETHAL starring Hailee Steinfeld, Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Alba; and YOUR RIGHT MIND starring Katherine Heigl and Ben Barnes.

Pope is a leading independent producer whose most recent film, THE CANYONS, premiered at the Venice Film Festival with IFC distributing. He is currently collaborating with Kanye West on multiple visual projects and produced award-winning music videos directed by the Brewer brothers.
