Konami Stealthily Drops PES 2022 Demo on Xbox and PlayStation

Konami has stealthily launched a demo of their upcoming soccer title – assumed to be called eFootball PES 2022 – on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

We say “stealthily” as the Japanese firm hasn’t sent out any press releases or even so much as made a note of the release via any social media accounts. Yet, the New Football Game Online Performance Test demo is live and ready to download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

The PES 2022 demo allows players to access single online matches and play as and against Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus, or Barcelona. Cross-gen play is in place, also. This is the first chance for sports gaming fans to see the fruits of Konami’s labor after they confirmed that they would be taking a year off (aside from releasing a version of eFootball PES 2020 with updated players) from the annual release cycle to build a new soccer game from the ground up. Indeed, the new game abandons Konami’s proprietary Fox Engine, replacing it with Unreal Engine.

eFootball PES 2022 is expected to launch in September, and the New Football Game Online Performance Test is available to download and play from now until July 7.
