Netflix is partnering up with director Joseph McGinty Nichol, known more commonly as McG, on a brand new comedy film, according to a report from Deadline.
The streaming platform landed the comedy spec, which is titled The Tradition, with McG producing the film through his Wonderland Sound and Vision banner.
The Tradition is reported to be a romantic comedy that aims to celebrate the cultural differences between both Mexican and American wedding traditions. Nico Godinez Miller and Grant Mellon have written the script, which is said to pull from both of their cultural backgrounds. Mary Viola will also join McG as a producer on the film.
McG and Netflix are no strangers to collaborating, with his production banner having teamed up with the streaming giant to release previous films including Tall Girl, The Babysitter, and Holidate, along with upcoming titles Love Hard, Mystery Girl, Uglies, and Tall Girl 2.
McG’s upcoming projects also include the TV series Turner & Hooch, Steven Sater’s musical drama Spring Awakening, Shauna Duggins’ Guardian, and the drama series Lore.
