Gavin Hood Boards Eye in the Sky, Starring Colin Firth

Ender’s Game helmer Gavin Hood is set to direct the upcoming thriller Eye in the Sky, Variety reports. Colin Firth is attached to star in the contemporary ensemble and is also producing through his Raindog Films.

Scripted by Guy Hibbert, Eye in the Sky offers a look at modern day drone warfare, following a military Colonel with orders to take down a terrorist safe-house in Nairobi.

Firth, who won an Academy Award for his performance in The King’s Speech, has a number of diverse projects coming up, including the West Memphis Three tale Devil’s Knot, Woody Allen’s latest, Magic in the Moonlight, Matthew Vaughn’s comic book adaptation The Secret Service and the children’s book adaptation Paddington, for which he will lend his voice to the titular bear.

Xavier Marchand is also producing through Entertainment One, as is Raindog’s Ged Doherty. Production is targeted for this August in South Africa.
