The film will be written and directed by Jeff Nichols, and won’t be a sequel to the recently released A Quiet Place Part II. Instead, the film will be based on an idea from John Krasinski, and act more as a spinoff from the main films. The report states that the film is very early in development and nothing is concrete yet, but the plan is to help broaden the post-apocalyptic, monster-ridden world that Krasinski introduced in the original 2018 film. The third film in the series is scheduled to release on March 31, 2023.

After being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, A Quiet Place Part II launched over Memorial Day weekend and quickly shot to the top of the box office. The film tallied a $57 million four-day opening, and made $69.1 million in its first week, outpacing the original film and cementing the franchise as an extremely popular one.

The second installment sees the return of Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, who is now leading the family’s survival following the death of Lee. Joining her are returning cast Noah Jupe as Marcus and Millicent Simmonds as Regan, along with new cast members, Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou.
