Ahead of the first teaser debut tomorrow, Amazon Studios has released the first official photos for Chris McKay’s upcoming sci-fi action feature, The Tomorrow War, which will be available for streaming on July 23, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The photos provided us with our first look at Chris Pratt and Yvonne Strahovski’s characters, as well as a glimpse of the film’s action-packed scenes, which include a city in flames.
In The Tomorrow War, the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrives from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, humanity is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is a high school teacher and family man Dan Forester. Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist and his estranged father in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.
The film will be led by Chris Pratt, J.K. Simmons, Yvonne Strahovski, and Betty Gilpin. Joining them are Sam Richardson, Theo Von, Jasmine Matthews, Keith Powers, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Edwin Hodge, Mike Mitchell, Seychelle Gabriel, Alan Trong, newcomer Chibuikem Uche and Alexis Louder.
The Tomorrow War is directed by Emmy winner Chris McKay (Robot Chicken, The Lego Batman Movie) from a script written by Zach Dean (Deadfall, 24 Hours to Live). The film was originally set up for a theatrical release but was delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. Amazon acquired the distribution rights to the project from Paramount Pictures.
Executive producers are Pratt, Rob Cowan, Brian Oliver, and Bradley J. Fischer, with Samantha Nisenboim, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Jules Daly, David Goyer, and Adam Kolbrenner serving as producers. The film is a co-production among Amazon Studios, Skydance, Paramount Pictures and New Republic Pictures.
