Kick-Ass 2’s Jeff Wadlow to Rewrite Masters of the Universe

Back in February, it was revealed that G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu had stepped away from the big screen version of Masters of the Universe, and then the hunt began to find a replacement. One of the names originally linked after Chu’s departure was Jeff Wadlow of Kick-Ass 2, and now, according to TheWrap, Wadlow has reportedly signed on to rewrite the script originally penned by Terry Rossio, who co-wrote The Lone Ranger.

A previous report from Schmoes Know had pegged Wadlow as the director for the film as well. TheWrap notes Wadlow is still in contention, along with I Origins director Mike Cahill, to helm the adaptation. Wadlow has also been tapped previously to write the screenplay for an X-Force film at Fox, with an eye to direct the adaptation of the Marvel comic series. Check back here for future updates on Masters of the Universe as well as Wadlow’s involvement.

Masters of the Universe follows Prince Adam, who transforms into a warrior called He-Man and becomes the last hope for a magical land called Eternia, ravaged by technology and the evil Skeletor.
