Ghostbusters and Jumanji rides set for new Columbia Pictures Aquaverse Park
Aquaverse, the world’s first-ever Columbia Pictures theme park is scheduled to open to the public beginning October 2021. Sony Pictures in partnership with Amazon Falls, Thailand’s premier theme park developers, announced plans that they have closed a deal to develop the new theme park destination.
Amazon Falls is refurbishing their already existing world-class waterpark located in Bangsaray Bay into Aquaverse. New state-of-the-art rides, water-based experiences and attractions will spawl out over the 14-acres for Thailand residents and visitors from around the world. Ghostbusters and Jumanji headline the cinematic IP’s that will be featured alongside other Sony Pictures/Columbia titles like Bad Boys, Men in Black, and Hotel Transylvania. It’s set to be located in the seaside town of Bangsaray, located 20 minutes from Pattaya and 90 minutes from Bangkok.
Sony Pictures has licensed attractions at other international parks before like the incredible Hotel Transylvania and Ghostbusters rides at MotionGate in Dubai but this presents an immense opportunity to expand on their own IP in exciting new ways. At Aquaversevisitors will be able to encounter some of pop culture’s biggest franchises in eight highly themed and immersive zones with an incredible range of both water and land-based attractions. There will be a slate of live shows, immersive entertainment, interactive props, unique sets and themed restaurants. And of course, shopping with specialty merchandise in retail locations. We NEED a giant proton (bag) pack to double as a water sipper to keep hydrated!
With travel opening up around the world, Aquaverse seems primed to have at least some major rides open in time for their October phased opening. Like most major theme parks, Aquaverse plans to operate its available offerings concurrently with construction phases. Their official Soft Opening under the full transformation is set for 2022.
