Lightyear is a sci-fi action-adventure and the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear (Evans), the hero who inspired the toy (voiced by Tim Allen in the original movie series). The film reveals how a young test pilot became the Space Ranger that we all know him to be today.
The movie is directed by Angus MacLane (Finding Dory) and produced by Galyn Susman (Toy Story 4, Ratatouille).
Lightyear is slated to open in theaters on June 17, 2022.
The massively successful Toy Story franchise kicked off with the first movie in 1995, directed by John Lasseter and written by Joss Whedon, Andrew Stanton, Joel Cohen, and Alec Sokolow. The movie was the first feature film from Pixar and starred Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Annie Potts, John Morris, and Erik von Detten.
