Alamo Drafthouse announces November & December holiday lineupAlamo Drafthouse Cinema is excited to unveil a jam packed lineup of holiday and family programming for November and December, offering a safe alternative to traditional large gatherings with timeless classics on the big screen that can be enjoyed in personal theater rentals and “Secret Santa Cinema,” a new series that offers fun holiday surprises. The program announcement videos can be viewed in the player below! Alamo Drafthouse has a lineup of seasonal classics and favorites that will be programmed for public screenings throughout November and December with a variety also available for personal theater rental. Titles include A Christmas Story, Frozen, Love Actually and many more. Select holiday favorites will be a “Secret Santa Cinema” presentation. What’s “Secret Santa Cinema”? In previous years, Alamo Drafthouse celebrated every holiday season with interactive and hosted Movie Party editions of their most beloved holiday classics. This year the theater chain is laser-focused on team and guest safety, so the singing and quoting and bubble-blowing that infused Movie Parties will stay paused for now. Instead, Alamo Drafthouse is introducing “Secret Santa Cinema”, special screenings where each attendee receives a free Santa (or Elf) hat filled with party favors, treats, and special surprises. Kids and families can share in this special Alamo Drafthouse-only experience for films like Elf, The Polar Express, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Gremlins and other holiday classics. “We’re facing a very different holiday season this year with travel and extended family gatherings not possible for most people,” Alamo Drafthouse CEO Shelli Taylor said in a statement, “but we hope that Alamo Drafthouse can still offer a home for holiday traditions- ‘Secret Santa Cinema’ will be a memorable experience for close family and friends.” Last month the theater chain introduced the successful “Trick or Treat Cinema” program that saw many families return to the theater for special all-age presentations of family-friendly Halloween classics. This November the new program, now called “Alamo Family Presents,” will continue with films like How to Train Your Dragon, The Neverending Story, Shrek and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. These special screenings offer a weekend family outing with a relaxing and safe way for parents to share their favorite films with their favorite little people. All ages are welcome – babies included – and the cinema relaxes their famous No Talking Policy for “Alamo Family Presents” titles. (portable devices are still a no-no, okay?). And for the holiday season, there will be an optional donation add-on to ticket purchases to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. Just add the donation of $1, $3 or $5 while in the checkout process. And finally, this weekend Bond fans can come together to celebrate Sean Connery, an undisputed icon of cinema whose work across the second half of the twentieth century will be enjoyed by film lovers for generations to come. At this special screening of Goldfinger, Alamo Drafthouse salutes Mr. Connery’s career and his portrayal of Agent 007. A portion of the proceeds from this screening goes to support the Will Rogers Motion Pictures Pioneers Foundation and their mission to provide social service assistance to eligible members of the theatrical entertainment industry who are encountering an illness, injury, or a life-changing event.
