The domestic box office continued its sluggish march through the month of September with another mediocre showing. Per Deadline, Tenet remained atop the charts with $3.4M, down some 26% from last week, which brings its total to $41.2M at 2,850 locations in the U.S. Globally, Christopher Nolan’s epic has risen to $283.2M thanks to strong showings in China ($64.3M), UK ($19.6M), France ($18M), Germany ($14.6M) and Korea ($13.1M). Pic also collected $355K from Imax venues.

Meanwhile, coming in at No. 5 on the box office chart was the re-release of Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back, which grossed $908,000 on 2,097 theaters. Otherwise, The New Mutants held onto the No. 2 spot with $1,147,000, and Unhinged remained at No. 3 with $1,000,000. At No. 4 was Jun-Soo Park’s Break the Silence, which earned $980K in its first week of release from 515 theaters.
Meanwhile, Infidel pulled in $745,000 in the No. 6 spot and The Broken Hearts Gallery managed $470,000 at No. 7 and new releases Shortcut, Akira, The Last Shift, and Kajillionaire occupied the final four spots with $305K, $270K, $235K, and $215K, respectively.
