Rise of Skywalker’s Victoria Mahoney to Direct Paramount’s Kill Them All
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures is in the process of developing a film adaptation of Oni Press’ graphic action novel titled Kill Them All with Yelling to the Sky filmmaker Victoria Mahoney in negotiations to helm the film. If the deal pushes through, this project would be Mahoney’s first major feature as a lead director
First published in 2015, Kill Them All is written by Kyle Starks, who also co-illustrated the novel with Luigi Anderson. It is described as a love letter to 1990s action movies where it tells the story of a betrayed murderess on a revenge campaign and a hard-drinking former cop who team up to take down a crime lord. Their nemesis rules from atop a 15-story Miami high-rise, so the duo must go floor by floor cutting through assassins, murderers, Luchadore gang bosses, ex-boyfriends and office workers.
The film adaptation will be written by James Coyne with Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemac (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) set as producers. Paramount has picked the rights to the novel since February 2019.
Mahoney is best known for making history as the first female and person of color to direct a Star Wars movie when J.J. Abrams hired her as the second unit director for Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. She also previously directed episodes for TV shows such as Queen Sugar, Gypsy, You, I Am the Night and most recently an episode of Jordan Peele’s upcoming HBO series Lovecraft Country.
