Watched at Home: Top 20 Streaming Films for Week of May 22
Hey there, fellow couch potatoes! We’re back with another wacky week that sees a long running mainstay finally crawl its way to the top, along with a couple of high-profile returns. Let’s dive right into this week’s Top 20 Streaming Films!
Well, Birds of Prey, which made a surprise jump to No. 1 last week, enjoyed a brief spell at the top — dethroned by … Sonic the Hedgehog? Yup. Paramount’s successful adaptation of the popular video game, which will officially receive a sequel, finally made its way to the throne after lingering for months in the No. 4 – 6 spot. I have yet to see the Jim Carrey led family flick, but you guys seem to love it so maybe it’s worth watching.
Another shocking change was Onward reappearing on the Top 20 after falling off completely but landing all the way at No. 3! Maybe people finally realized how great of a flick it is. Or, maybe people demanded more family flicks over the holiday weekend. Still, it’s nice to see the underrated Pixar comedy getting some love.
Also returning from the dead, perhaps fueled by all that Snyder Cut news, was Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, which reached No. 6 in its third week of release despite spending its sophomore frame off site.
Speaking of Snyder Cut news, Ben Affleck’s The Way Back made a welcome return to the Top 20 as well. Welcome back, Mr. Affleck. Now, please play Batman again.
