The Nest: Jude Law & Carrie Coon Drama Gets September Theatrical Release
According to Variety, IFC Films will release the Jude Law and Carrie Coon drama The Nest in theaters on September 18, 2020. IFC Films acquired the North American distribution rights after the movie had its world premiere last January at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
The film follows the story of a charming and ambitious businessman named Rory (Law) as he relocates his wife Allison (Coon) and their children from suburban America to his native England. The plan is to get rich in the booming 1980s London. While Rory’s career continues to rise in the city, Allison and the kids struggle to adapt. Soon, their family gets further apart as they find themselves stuck in the country in a run-down mansion they can’t afford to furnish. The isolation and mounting financial issues began to take a toll on their family bonds.
The film stars two-time Oscar nominee Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain) as Rory, Emmy nominee Carrie Coon (Fargo, The Leftovers, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as Allison, Charlie Shotwell (Eli, Troop Zero) as Benjamin, Michael Culkin (The Crown) as Arthur Davies, Adeel Akhtar (Murdered by My Father) as Steve and Oona Roche (The Morning Show) as Sam. It also features BAFTA nominee Anne Reid, Wendy Crewson, and Tattiawna Jones.
Developed by BBC Films, The Nest is written and directed by Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene), who is a producer along with Ed Guiney, Derrin Schlesinger, Rose Garnett, Durkin, Amy Jackson, and Christina Piovesan. It was executive produced by Andrew Lowe, Jude Law, Polly Stokes, Ben Browning, Glen Basner, Alison Cohen, Milan Popelka, and Law with co-producers Kasia Malipan and Noah Segal.
