Freddy Vs. Jason Writers Still Want a Sequel

Who wants another battle between Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees? Well, as it turns out, the answer is Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the writers of the classic 2003 blood fest Freddy vs. Jason. The duo took to Twitter to state their desire for another round between the two titans of horror.

“We still want to get it made! We would always love to do another one,” the duo tweeted. “But it’s always good to get fresh eyes on the material, no? We’ve had our day. We’ve written for Jason more than any other writer, I think. Let someone new come in and give it fresh blood!”

It is odd that we’ve had 23 Freddy and Jason movies, but only one where they actually duke it out. Oh sure, there were rumblings about a possible Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash sequel that would’ve brought in Bruce Campbell, but those were mostly just fan pipe dreams. At this point, we don’t really need another Freddy or Jason movie, much less one where they fight, but it’s something I would happily welcome.

Here’s the synopsis from the original film (via JoBlo): Two horror icons face off in this supernatural movie. Disfigured serial killer Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), who attacks his victims in their dreams, has lost much of his power since citizens of his town have become less afraid of him. Enlisting the help of fellow violent murderer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger), Freddy orchestrates a new killing spree. However, when the hockey-mask-wearing psychopath won’t stop chopping up Freddy’s intended victims, the two ghouls start to battle each other.
