Luke Evans Talks About The Crow Remake

Little is still known about the upcoming reboot of The Crow from Relativity Media and Dimension Films. We’ve heard things tossed around such as “re-imagining” and “gritty reboot,” but with the film still in pre-production the details are still unavailable. Speaking with Metro UK, actor Luke Evans, who will play the title character in the film, spoke about the tragedy of Brandon Lee, the themes of the movie, as well as saying their film will be very close to the source material.

“It is incredibly sad that Brendon died making the movie. He was a very talented actor. It is a very beautiful story, The Crow. It is a very tragic story with huge emotional themes. We plan to tell the story differently and with a lot of integrity to the original comic book.”

Evans will star in the lead role of Eric, who will become The Crow after meeting an untimely demise. Set to be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez, the film features a script by Cliff Dorfman. Series creator James O’Barr will also work as a creative consultant on the film, which is said to begin production in 2014. No release date is currently set.

Evans can be next seen on the big screen in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which hits theaters December 12th.
