Entertainment One to Distribute Decoding Annie Parker

Entertainment One Films US has secured the domestic distribution rights to Decoding Annie Parker, the upcoming drama starring Academy Award nominee Samantha Morton, Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Helen Hunt and Emmy winner Aaron Paul. The film is slated for a day-and-date release in theaters and via VOD next summer.

Decoding Annie Parker also stars Bradley Whitford, Rashida Jones, Richard Schiff, Alice Eve, Maggie Grace, Marley Shelton, Chris Mulkey and Corey Stoll. The film is cinematographer Steven Bernstein’s feature directorial debut from a script he wrote with Adam Bernstein and Michael Moss.

Loosely based on the life of cancer survivor Annie Parker and the groundbreaking career of geneticist Mary-Claire King, the film tells the dramatic story of two women whose force of spirit defies the odds. Armed with a wicked sense of humor, Parker (Morton) faces down family loss, a cheating husband and her own mortality. At the same time, Dr. King (Hunt) upends scientific doctrine when she discovers the BRCA1 gene mutation, which revolutionizes understanding and treatment of certain types of breast cancer. How the paths of these two women intersect is funny, irreverent, and heartwarming without the burn.

“Steven has created a gripping, poignant and inspiring film that champions the strength of the human spirit and beautifully captures both the emotional challenges and unexpected wit of those who are faced with hardship,” says Dylan Wiley, eOne Films US Senior Vice President and General Manager. “This is a story that will connect deeply with audiences, and we are happy to bring this film to theatres nationwide.”

Bernstein notes, “It took seven years to make ‘Decoding Annie Parker,’ which started out as a film project, and evolved into a cause for everyone involved, including the extraordinary cast. Both on screen on off, Annie Parker and Mary-Claire King have become beacons of hope and inspiration, and it is so gratifying to find in eOne a distributor that understands the important, funny, and uplifting message of this film.”

Decoding Annie Parker is produced by Steven Bernstein, Keith Kjarval, Clark Peterson and Stuart W. Ross.
