Thor: Love and Thunder Director Taika Waititi Promises ‘Bigger, Bolder’ Sequel

In a recent interview with EW (via Comic Book Movie), when asked about Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder, director Taika Waititi has revealed the tone and direction he’s planning to do for the upcoming sequel. He confirmed that Love and Thunder will be much “bigger, bolder, and brighter” than Thor: Ragnarok, teasing that the audience should expect to see “some really crazy stuff in the film.”

Because of this, many MCU fans might get more excited to see the outcome of Thor: Love and Thunder because it was Waititi’s new take and fun direction on Ragnarok that revived the Thor franchise, making it the highest-grossing film of the trilogy with over $800 million.

“The next Thor film I’m doing, basically, we’re sort of launching ourselves again on this adventure film, really. That was the thing really that I loved about doing Ragnarok, it felt like we were just putting Thor on a really cool adventure. There’s always like new things to see and do, and this one, I think we’re gonna double down a lot on that and have it bigger, bolder and brighter. There’s just gonna be some really crazy stuff in the film,” Waititi said.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be directed by Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) which will be the followup to his wildly successful 2017 sequel Thor: Ragnarok. Natalie Portman is set to return as Jane and will wield the mighty Mjolnir. Hemsworth and Thompson will also return as Thor and Valkyrie, respectively. The female Thor storyline is based on Jason Aaron’s run on “The Mighty Thor” in which a cancer-stricken Jane Foster takes up the mantle and powers of Thor.

Thor and Valkyrie were last seen in this year’s highest-grossing film of all time Avengers: Endgame with the god of thunder entrusting his responsibilities as the King of Asgard to Valkyrie as he joins the Guardians of the Galaxy on their next mission.
