Per the report, the story follows Crowe’s character, a troubled actor who slowly unravels while filming a horror film. His actions lead his estranged daughter to wonder whether he is relapsing back into past addictions, or dealing with something far more sinister.

This is the first Miramax project to be produced under Kevin Williamson, who inked a deal with the studio early last year.

“Bill and I are so excited to work with Russell, one of the greatest actors of our time,” said Williamson. “Fortin and Miller have such a fresh vision for this film, we know that together they will create something terrifying and memorable.”

Crowe’s most recent projects include The True History of the Kelly Gang, which was picked up by IFC. He also stars as a deranged man dealing with road rage in the thriller Unhinged, set to hit theaters in August.
