Emily Blunt & Jon Hamm to have a Wild Mountain Thyme with Jame Dornan
The Hollywood Reporter has brought word that Mary Poppins Returns‘ Emily Blunt and Good Omens star Jon Hamm have signed on to star in the upcoming Irish romance Wild Mountain Thyme alongside Fifty Shades alum Jamie Dornan.
Based on John Patrick Shanley’s 2014 Tony-nominated Broadway play, the film will tell the story of star-crossed lovers Anthony and Rosemary whose families are in a heated contest over a piece of land separating the two farms.
Blunt has signed on to portray Rosemary and Dornan as Anthony, with the other characters currently being kept undisclosed. In addition to Hamm, the cast also features Irish film and stage actress Dearbhla Molloy (No Reservations) and Oscar-winner Christopher Walken (Eddie the Eagle).
Shanley is set to write and direct the adaptation himself, marking his second foray behind the camera developing his own stage material for the big screen after 2008’s Oscar- and Golden Globe-nominated period drama Doubt.
Bleecker Street has acquired the U.S. rights to the project with Lionsgate acquiring the U.K. rights. The film is set to be produced by Mar-Key Pictures, Leslie Urdang (Rabbit Hole), Anthony Bregman (Foxcatcher) from Likely Story, Michael Helfant and Bradley Gallo from Amasia Entertainment (Them That Follow) and Martina Niland (Sing Street) of Port Pictures, with Andrew Kramer, Jonathan Loughran and Stephen Mallaghan set to executive produce.
Production is set to begin on Wild Mountain Thyme on September 30 in Ireland.
