Avengers: Endgame Writers Discuss Cap Crossing Paths with Red Skull

Despite its three-hour runtime, Avengers: Endgame left a couple of unanswered questions lingering about. One of them being if Captain America ran into The Red Skull when he was returning the Infinity Stones to their rightful spots in history. On the commentary track for Endgame, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were asked by co-director Anthony Russo their thoughts on this would-be event.

He would have to,” said McFeely, with Markus adding that he had thought about this inevitability “many times.” The pair speculated that with the Soul Stone not on Vorimir, would the Red Skull still be there? McFeely wasn’t so sure, but before the discussion continued, Russo interrupted, saying simply “It’s fun to think about,” and the conversation moved on.

It’s possible with Loki’s upcoming Disney+ series, or the animated What If…? show, we could find out more about what really happened on Vorimir. Or, it could be one of those points fans debate until the end of time.
