Indiana Jones 5 Will Start Shooting Next Year Says Ford

Ready or not, Indiana Jones is returning to the big screen sooner rather than later. At least according to Harrison Ford who revealed to Variety during the premiere of The Secret Life of Pets 2, that Indy’s next adventure will start shooting “sometime next year.” This jives with the current July 9, 2021 release date set by Disney.

As noted in the trade, Ford was in attendance for The Secret Life of Pets 2 premiere in which he plays Rooster, who takes Max (voiced by Patton Oswalt) under his wing. During the event Ford was asked about Indiana Jones 5 to which the actor responded enthusiastically, that it “should be starting to shoot sometime next year” and that he was “looking forward to it” and that “things are coming along well.”

Famed archaeologist and explorer Indiana Jones was introduced in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark – one of AFI’s 100 Greatest American Films of All Time – and later thrilled audiences in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The four films have brought in nearly $2 billion at the global box office.
