Oscar-Winner Mahershala Ali Jumps Into Sci-fi with Sovereign

Mahershala Ali continues to conquer Hollywood! According to Deadline, the versatile actor is jumping into sci-fi with Sovereign, marking his first project following his Oscar-winning turn in this year’s best picture winner Green Book.

Ali has been on a hot streak thanks to successful stints in the James Cameron produced Alita: Battle Angel, HBO’s True Detective Season 3 and this year’s other best picture winner (in animation) Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.This new venture sounds like another intriguing project as it hails from director Marc Munden (Utopia), A Quiet Place writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, and 21 Laps Entertainment’s Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Dan Cohen.

“We have long loved this project and have been patiently waiting until we found the right leading actor, which we no doubt have found in the incredibly talented Mahershala Ali,” said Nick Meyer, eOne’s President of Film.
