Gavin O’Connor to direct Warner Bros’ action thriller Fast
According to Variety, The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor is current in talks to helm Warner Bros. Pictures’ new action thriller titled Fast, following Taylor Sheridan’s departure from the project. Last year, it was reported that MCU star Chris Pratt was in negotiations to star in the upcoming film. It is unclear whether or not Pratt is still attached to lead the film.
O’Connor’s film credits as a director includes Tumbleweeds, Miracle, Warrior and Jane Got a Gun. He is best known for directing the 2016 crime thriller The Accountant which starred Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, and John Lithgow. He is currently busy working on the upcoming drama film Torrance (formerly titled The Has-Beens) which he co-wrote with Brad Ingelsby.
Details are scarce at this point, but the film is said to focus on a black-ops team that targets drug dealers who have protection from other, more conventional federal agencies. David Heyman (Gravity) and Jeff Clifford will be producing through through their Heyday Films banner.
Despite Pratt’s massive box office draw, both of his upcoming big-budget projects are currently in limbo. He was set to star in Cowboy Ninja Viking, which has been shelved indefinitely due to script issues. In addition, Pratt’s MCU-set Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been pushed back to undisclosed release date as Disney tries to find a new director after the firing of James Gunn.
