Taron Egerton has confirmed that he will not reprise the role of Eggsy in the next Kingsman movie, which will be spin-off prequel of the hit film franchise.

“I don’t know how hot off the press this is, and I think I’m allowed to say it, but I’m not in the next Kingsman movie,” Egerton told Yahoo Movies UK“That doesn’t mean I won’t be in Kingsman ever again. I was with Matthew [Vaughn] as little as a few days ago, we’re still very much in business together, but his next journey in that world doesn’t involve me.”

The third movie in the popular franchise will be released by Fox on November 9, 2019, and will be a World War I set prequel. The outlet reports it will “introduce a teen named Conrad, who wants to fight in World War I,” as well as a new adult character rumoured to be played by Ralph Fiennes.

According to Egerton, Vaughn revealed the plot to him in a recent meeting.

“His idea for the new one is incredibly exciting. I’m sad that I won’t be on that journey with him but it’s not the last you’ve seen of Eggsy.”

Robin Hood, Egerton’s next feature, is set to debut on November 21, and follows the story of a war-hardened Crusader and a Moorish commander mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure. Packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance, which is a never before seen story of how our titular hero became the icon and legend as we know him today.
