Suicide Squad is the next big offering in the DC Cinematic Universe and will feature some of your favorite villains doing some dastardly things in the service of good. The thing is, it wasn’t really their idea. The film is directed by David Ayer and stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and will feature an appearance from Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Will Smith as Floyd Lawton/Deadshot

Deadshot is an assassin who is having a bit of a crisis of conscience. He’s also a dad who loves his daughter. He’s the world’s deadliest marksman and Amanda Waller brings him on the team of baddies who are being forced to fight crime. Will Smith began his career as half of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, and starring in the show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He’s known for his roles in Men in Black, Bad Boys, Hitch, I Am LegendIndependence Day and Hancock. He’s been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and two Academy Awards.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Margot Robbie as Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn

Margot Robbie plays Harley Quinn, a fan favorite and about 50% of the cosplay we saw at San Diego Comic-Con this year. She first appeared as a character in Batman: The Animated Series and is a sometimes-lover/accomplice, sometimes-adversary of the Joker. Robbie broke onto the scene in The Wolf of Wall Street opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. She’s since appeared in The Big Short, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and The Legend of Tarzan.

Probably the most famous comic book villain in the world, the Joker is a psychopath who’s biggest adversary is Batman. Jared Leto is the lead singer for the band Thirty Seconds to Mars and has appeared in TV shows like My So-Called Life and films such as The Thin Red Line, Fight Club, American Psycho and Urban Legend and won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as a transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Cara Delevingne as June Moone/Enchantress

Cara Delevingne plays Enchantress, a powerful sorceress who is released from her prison by June Moone, who she inhabits. Delevingne is a model who successfully transitioned to an acting career. She’s been seen in Anna Karenina, Paper Towns, Pan, The Face of an Angel, and Kids in Love. She’ll also be seen in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg

Rick Flagg is the leader of the Suicide Squad, though he and Amanda Waller don’t always want the same thing. Joel Kinnaman took over for Tom Hardy, who originally had the role. He won an award for the Swedish film Easy Money and appeared as Governor Bill Conway on Netflix‘s House of Cards. He starred in the series The Killing and played the lead role in the remake of RoboCop.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Jai Courtney as Digger Harkness/Boomerang

Jai Courtney plays the assassin Boomerang and he’s kind of a jerk. Courtney has appeared in Spartacus: Blood and Sand as Varro, and appeared in the young adult films Divergent and Insurgent. He played Kyle Reese in Terminator Genisys and he has also appeared in A Good Day to Die Hard, I, Frankenstein and Man Down.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Jay Hernandez as Chato Santana/El Diablo

El Diablo is a former gang member from Los Angeles who can summon flames to his hands. He regrets his past actions and really doesn’t want to fight. He’s also rocking some pretty intense facial tattoos. Jay Hernandez has appeared in films like Crazy/Beautiful, The Rookie, Ladder 49, Friday Night Lights, Hostel, World Trade Center, Lakeview Terrace, and most recently Bad Moms.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Karen Fukuhara as Tatsu Yamashiro/Katana

Katana is an expert swordswoman and martial artist who is dealing with the loss of her husband. In the comics, he’s killed by his brother and his soul goes into her sword. Karen Fukuhara is a relative newcomer who worked on Disney Channel shows in Japan.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Adam Beach as Christopher Weiss/Slipknot

Slipknot is a master of ropes and a member of the Suicide Squad. Adam Beach is known for playing U.S. Marine Corporal Ira Hayes in Flags of Our Fathers, and roles in Windtalkers, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor — Mini-Series or Television Film. Beach appeared in Joe Dirt, Hawaii Five-O, Hell on Wheels and A Fighting Man.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Waylon Jones/Killer Croc

Killer Croc has a genetic condition that makes him look reptilian and was a sideshow wrestler. He’s also a bit of a cannibal. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje appeared as Mr. Eko on the series Lost, as well as playing Lock-Nah in The Mummy Returns and Simon Adebisi on the series Oz. He also played Malko in Season 5 of HBO‘s Game of Thrones and appeared in Thor: The Dark World, Annie and Trumbo.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Viola Davis as Amanda Waller

Amanda Waller is running the show, coming up with the idea for the Suicide Squad and taking no prisoners in terms of what is happening and who is expendable. Viola Davis first appeared on the scene when she was nominated for a slew of awards for her role in Doubt. She’s since gone on to appear in films like Eat Pray Love, The Help, Ender’s Game, and Blackhat. She’s also appeared on TV shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The United States of Tara and won an Emmy Award for her performance as Professor Annalise Keating on How to Get Away with Murder.

Suicide Squad Movie Cast: Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Ben Affleck took over the role of Batman for the recent Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will continue to play the role in all the upcoming films slated for the DC Cinematic Universe. He’ll appear in Suicide Squad in a performance that’s being referred to as “significant.” Affleck is known for his work in films like Good Will Hunting (which he wrote and starred in with his friend Matt Damon), Armageddon, Shakespeare in Love, Pearl Harbor, The Town, Argo and Gone Girl.
