In Duplicity, Tony Gilroy’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning Michael Clayton, Julia Roberts and Clive Owen play former government operatives who join the private sector and find themselves on opposite sides of a battle between two corporate cosmetic giants lead by Paul Giamatti and Tom Wilkinson.
It’s the second film Roberts and Owen did together after Mike Nichols’ Closer, for which Owen won a Golden Globe and received an Oscar nomination. It’s also a very different film, one that deals in the world of espionage Gilroy has specialized in over the years, having written the “Bourne” trilogy, but it also has the playful humor and romance that Roberts has brought to some of her most popular roles. In fact, Roberts and Owen bring the type of chemistry to the film that we might not have seen since the days of Bogey and Bacall or Tracy and Hepburn.
ComingSoon.net had a chance to talk to both actors at a subdued junket in New York City last week, and you can read the results below, but then check back next week for ComingSoon.net’s exclusive interview with Mr. Gilroy.
Duplicity opens nationwide on March 20.
