Jun is the lead dancer, lead vocalist, and visual. The8, aka Xu Minghao, is the lead dancer, lead rapper, and sub-vocalist. Dino is the main dancer, main rapper, sub-vocalist, and maknae (youngest member) of the unit.

The K-pop group’s performance unit debuted with the song “Jam Jam” in Seventeen’s debut EP, 17 Carat. Since then, the unit has produced over 19 tracks. So, let’s look at some of Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino’s best tracks that will maintain their steady positions in fans’ playlists.

‘Moonwalker’

Seventeen’s “Moonwalker” is one of the top performance unit tracks released as a B-side track of their 2018 EP, You Make My Day. The catchy track contains all the elements that make the performance unit unique.

The B-side’s burst of energy from beginning to end, choreography, and overall beats made it one of the most mentioned songs of the EP. Since its release, the song has received almost half a million views on YouTube, and the live performance videos have also clocked over 200k streams.

‘Jam Jam’

Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino’s “Jam Jam” was the debut track released with the EP 17 Carat. The vibrant track introduces the unit’s dynamics and vision for the future.

Apt with the title’s name, the song packs a punch where Hoshi and Dino deliver some relatable lines singing, “If it’s hard, do it tomorrow| You don’t need to try so hard baby (I’ll look out)| Everyone tells me| They want a more dirty jamming|Tell your phone that you’re gonna be flying for a bit|Don’t be dragged down by your surroundings| Freely enjoy, skip the preparations| Do what you feel, no need to control the level.”

‘Back 2 Back’

Among Seventeen’s performance unit’s more grungy tracks, the B-side offering “Back 2 Back” is a breath of fresh air. The song is a perfect concoction of melodic bliss and high-tempo beats.

Seventeen released Back 2 Back as a part of their 11th mini album, Seventeenth Heaven. The song perfectly fits the album’s theme, which celebrates Seventeen’s inspiring journey in K-pop. In the comfort track, The8 and Dino assure fans by singing: “A highlight that will shine in the unending game/ I don’t know the results/ But it’s gonna be alright/ We are in the cold wind and darkness/ Even if you walk backwards, we’ll meet back to back.”

Since its release, the song has gained over 2.2 million views on YouTube and 9,527,949 streams on Spotify, making it one of the best tracks in the performance unit.

‘247’

Seventeen fans hail the performance unit’s track “247” as a sonic brilliance. From the earnest lyrics to the sweet pop tune, “247” could very well be one of the best love songs that Seventeen has ever released.

In “247,” love-struck HOSHI, Jun, Dino, and THE 8 sing in the chorus: “24/7, while in search of you/ Wandered and wandered and arrived at this space/ When I open my arms wide to hug you/ I can’t feel anything/ No matter what words I use to say I miss you/ My yearning for you isn’t filled/ 24/7, your memories/ Won’t end until the universe stops.”

As one of the favorite B-side tracks of Seventeen, “247” has garnered massive views over time. The track got 2.3 million streams on YouTube and 19,372,803 streams on Spotify since its release in 2019.

‘Pang!’

Seventeen shows how to ace an experimental track best with Attacca’s “Pang!.” Even though it is a very high-tempo song, “Pang!” has a core pop base, which renders its much-needed sweetness. The flawless vocals of Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino give the song an edge and make it a brilliant listen at any time.

Since Seventeen’s debut, the group has shown they are self-sufficient in writing masterpiece tracks, and “Pang!” solidifies the claim even more. In the track, The8 and Hoshi represent the angst of millions singing, “wait a minute, wait, wait a minute, am I ready?/ Keep it away, keep it away, not yet/ The speech bubble’s speech bubble grows/ My heart has grown bigger than the atmosphere/ I’m afraid it’s going to explode, huh!” The song has gained over 3.5 million views on YouTube and over 17 million streams on Spotify.

‘Spell’

Seventeen’s “Spell” is one of the group’s latest releases as part of their 2024 comeback album,  Seventeen The Best ’17 Is Right Here.’ The new track comes with a music video, a visual treat for fans. The alluring charm of “Spell” lies in its heavenly vocals, teasing lyrics, and sensual choreography, which Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino nail perfectly.

Within a week of its release, the song garnered over 10 million views on YouTube and over 6 million listens on Spotify. According to fan sentiment on social media, Spell could be Seventeen performance unit’s best release to date.

Moreover, among other tracks in Seventeen’s performance tracks that are close to fan hearts, “I Don’t Understand But I Luv U” and My I rank on top with over 10 million streams on YouTube.
