Mnet Build Up Final: Winners & Debut K-Pop Group’s Name Revealed

After nine nail-biting episodes, Mnet’s reality show Build Up’s finale aired on March 29. The winners of Build Up feature a unique team of vocalists who charmed fans from episode 1. The winning team will debut as a four-person K-pop group named BDU (Boys Define Universe).

Mnet’s hit survival show Build Up started with forty contestants. Only twelve made it to the finale, including  Jay Chung, Bitsaeon, Seunghun, Minseo,  Donghun, Park Jeup, Bain, Jeon Woong, Suhwan, Kang Hayoon, Wumuti, and Sunyuol. The finalists were divided into three teams- HUN-MIN-JAY-BIT, Partners, and Water-Fire.

Winners of Mnet Build Up to debut in new K-pop group BDU

After being the season’s favorite from day 1, Jay Chung’s team, HUN-MIN-JAY-BIT, featuring Jay, Bitsaeon, Seunghun, and Minseo, emerged as the winners of Build Up. The group performed “Hold Me” in the final stage and scored 1418 points. HUN-MIN-JAY-BIT also ranked first in pre-finale votes. The team scored 471 points in pre-final votes and 947 points from the live voting.

The Partners team came in second place after performing “Your Season.” Donghun, Park Jeup, Bain, and Jeon Woong scored 1418 points, including 471 points from pre-finale and 947 points from live voting.

Water-Fire team of Suhwan, Kang Hayoon, Wumuti, and Sunyuol came in third place after performing “This Moment.” The team scored 413 points, including 122 points from pre-finale votes and 291 points from live voting.

Mnet’s Build-Up was a sentimental journey for fans. The contestants took a moment to talk about the show’s impact on their careers. The Partners team’s Je Up shared how he almost quit his music career before joining the reality show. Fans also spotted A.C.E team members in the audience who had come to support Donghun of the Partners team in the live finale.

After ten weeks of intense competition, Mnet’s vocal competition Build Up ended with four K-pop stars joining a new K-pop team, BDU—Boys Define Universe. Jay Chung, Bitsaeon, Seunghun, and Minseo will continue to bond throughout BDU’s journey. Mnet will reveal the debut schedule of the K-pop act soon.
