The episode documented a fair share of romance and tension as the Hong family navigated Hong Man-Dae’s death and Hong Hae-In (Kim Ji-Won) possible survival after surgery. However, if she goes ahead with the surgery, she will lose all her memories.
The family and Baek Hyun-Woo (Kim Soo-Hyun) decided it was best to hide this information from Hae-In until the couple got to Germany. By the end of the episode, Hyun-Woo revealed the truth to Hae-In, which left her heartbroken. She has two choices – either to go with the surgery and lose her memories or not opt for the surgery and lose her life. Viewers will have to wait and see what decision she makes.
Queen of Tears Episode 13: Kim Soo-Hyun & Kim Ji-Won become newlyweds
The latest Queen of Tears episode 13 began with the Hong family reeling from the patriarch Hong Man-Dae’s loss. The former Chairman built a secret passage from the lift when he built the house. When the family arrived at the secret room, they found it empty. They realized that Mo Seul-Hee shifted the secret fund to another place. They confronted her, with Hong Beom-Jun promising to make a return to their home.
Meanwhile, Hae-In heard Man-Dae’s recorded message, expressing his regrets about living his life materialistically. The family then held the funeral for the late Chairman, which Hae-In felt like a rehearsal for her timely end shortly. While speaking with Hyun-Woo, she broke down, wanting to live life a little more. Meanwhile, Seul-Hee showed her son, Yoon Eun-Seong, the secret fund she stole from the passage.
Back at Yongduri, the Baek and Hong family spent time together when Hyun-Woo received a call from Germany. The doctors had found a positive cure for Hae-In, which made everyone happy. Hyun-Woo rejoiced at the possibility of spending a lifetime with Hae-In. However, the operation’s downside was Hae-In losing all of her memories. Beom-Jun asked Hyun-Woo to keep it a secret from Hae-In until they reached Germany and convinced her.
After confirming the news, Hae-In broke down. She was finally happy to have found a treatment to cure her terminal illness. From the following day onwards, Hae-In had a shift in her attitude. She chose to make happy memories instead of making money.
Hae-In and Hyun-Woo spent quality time together, with the former dreaming about things they could do after her surgery. Hae-In also wore the ring, accepting Hyun-Woo’s proposal. She revealed having three secrets from Hyun-Woo. Hae-In revealed her first secret and told him the MP3 was hers from when she dropped it in school. Hyun-Woo noted that it was fate that brought them together.
Meanwhile, Grace received a large sum of money from Seul-Hee. However, she could only use it as per Seul-Hee’s instructions. At Yongduri, Hae-In colored her nails with Balsam flower extract so that her first love could come true. Hyun-Woo, however, remained unaware that he was Hae-In’s first love. The duo shared some fun banter.
Hyun-Woo set a bait for Eun-Seong. The latter discovered that Ever H CEO Michael met with Hong Beom-Seok, who wanted to take Eun-Seong’s spot. Seul-Hee, however, assured her son’s safety. Eun-Seong later used the secret fund and invested in paper companies abroad. Hyun-Woo decided to make Eun-Seong anxious so that the latter would keep using the fun, and they could charge him with embezzlement and malpractice. Later, they discovered that real estate broker Pyeon Seong-Uk had gone missing, who was to give them important information.
Grace arrived at the Yongduri household only to learn about Hae-In’s surgery. Meanwhile, Hae-In bonded with her mother ahead of leaving for Germany. Hae-In and Hyun-Woo moved into the latter’s apartment and spent quality time together the following morning. Hong Soo-Cheol decided to stay back at Yongduri with Da-Hye. On the other hand, Eun-Seong found out about Hae-In’s surgery through Grace. He later confronted Hyun-Woo about keeping her potential memory loss a secret from Hae-In.
Eun-Seong knew that Hae-In would opt against the surgery if she were told the truth. He further instigated Hyun-Woo by expressing his love for Hae-In. Eun-Seong later removed all their belongings from the house and handed Hyun-Woo the same. Meanwhile, Hae-In decided to bring changes to the mall to prioritize her customers’ well-being. At Yongduri, the Baek family received a building from the Hong family, who expressed gratitude for letting them stay in the village.
At night, Hae-In expressed her first snowfall at the mall. She revealed her second secret to Hyun-Woo, telling him he was her first love. As the couple left for Germany, their families reeled from the truth about Hae-In’s surgery. Hae-In’s mother broke down at the thought of her daughter. Meanwhile, Eun-Seong also left for Germany as news broke about broker Pyeon Seong-Uk’s murder.
On their way to the hospital, Hae-In revealed her third secret to Hyun-Woo. She said the raccoon Yong-Suk she told Hyun-Woo was at the Queens Group rooftop never existed. The two shared some laughter before reaching the hospital. However, when Hae-In was about to enter, Hyun-Woo told her the truth. Hae-In was devastated and confused as she had to now pick the lesser of two evils. It was either surgery and memory loss or no surgery and death. Hyun-Woo advised her to go through with the surgery.
At the end of the episode, a flashback scene reveals Hyun-Woo’s honest confessions to Hae-In if she loses her memory. He promised to be with her all his life, giving her strength to overcome all hurdles.
