K-Dramas Like Queen of Tears: My Demon, Encounter & More

Queen of Tears is the new Netflix K-drama that has become popular among fans within a week of its release. Starring Kim Soo-Hyun as Baek Hyun-Woo and Kim Ji-Won as Hong Hae-In, the K-drama revolves around a chaebol heiress and her company’s employee.

Hyun-Woo is the director of Queens Group while Ji-Won is the company’s successor. In the drama, the two people who are poles apart are married. While they pretend to be a happy couple in public, the reality is far from the truth. However, a crisis will likely rekindle the romance in their marriage.

With a storyline revolving around a boss lady, fans have seen many K-dramas like Queen of Tears. Let’s take a look at a few examples:

My Demon

My Demon is the latest highly anticipated K-drama that has a similar character to Kim Ji-Won’s in Queen of Tears. The fantasy rom-com series stars Song Kang and Kim You-Jung in lead roles. The latter plays Do Do-Hee, the successor of the Future Group. She is the chaebol heiress with many enemies within her family.

One day, her fate gets entangled with a demon named Gu-Won. His powers somehow transfer to her, and thus, he must keep her close all the time. In return, she hires him as her bodyguard. The series is available on Netflix.

Encounter

Encounter is a 2018 Korean series recently made available on Netflix. The storyline revolves around Song Hye-Kyu as Cha Soo-Hyun, the daughter of a popular politician. She was once married into a family that runs a big company. Although she is divorced, her mother-in-law cannot afford any bad press because of Soo-Hyun. The latter’s life has not been her own for a long time.

When she visits Cuba due to work, Soo-Hyun takes a few hours from her busy sightseeing schedule. There, she encounters Kim Jin-Hyeok (Park Bo-Gum). Their special bond gets stronger when he becomes an employee in her firm by coincidence. While fate brings them together again, the society and media might not let them have their freedom.

Crash Landing on You 

Crash Landing on You is one of the K-dramas like Queen of Tears. Park Ji-Eun writes both series with a storyline revolving around a chaebol heiress. In Crash Landing on You, Yoon Se-Ri (Son Ye-Jin) accidentally lands in North Korea after a paragliding incident. North Korean army officer Ri Jeong-Hyeok (Hyun-Bin) finds her and hides her from his senior officials.

To send her home, Jeong-Hyeok goes through many obstacles. Their journey from one homeland to another brings them closer. The cross-border love story currently streams on Netflix. 

It’s Okay to Not Be Okay 

It’s Okay to Not Be Okay is the story of a famous and wealthy woman Ko Moon-Young (Seo Yea-Ji) and a struggling psychiatric ward employee Moon Kang-Tae (Kim Soo-Hyun). The series stars several actors from Queen of Tears, including lead actors Soo-Hyun and Oh Jung-Se.

According to Netflix, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay synopsis reads, “An extraordinary road to emotional healing opens up for an antisocial children’s book writer and a selfless psych ward caretaker when they cross paths.” The drama consists of 16 episodes.
