The first episode sees the lead character of the K-drama, Sung Soo-Ji joining Baekyeon Girls’ High School as a new transfer student. Soon, she ends up getting stuck into the brutal popularity ranking system of Year 2, Class 5. The episode also reveals who is the mastermind behind the game.

Pyramid Game Episode 1: Does Bona figure out who is behind the ranking game?

Pyramid Game episode 1 starts with a chilling scene, where a student of Baekyeon Girls’ High School is threatening other students with a knife in her hand. It looks like the student is in agony after her peers have violently bullied her. She ends up making a cut in Myung Ja-Eun’s (Ryu Da-In) neck with the knife. Then the episode jumps to a few months later from that incident. A new transfer student, Sung Soo-Ji (Bona) joins the school’s Year 2, Class 5.

After entering the school she learns that only their class is held in a completely separate building of the school. The environment of her class also seems quite hostile. Sung Soo-Ji soon realizes that nobody likes the girl, Myung Ja-Eun. All the other students in the class talk badly about her. However, soon, Sung Soo-Ji finds out that her peers are bullying Myung Ja-Eun to an extreme level. After seeing her in an injured condition, Sung Soo-Ji shows concern about Myung Ja-Eun. Before she can ask her anything else, another student interrupts.

Furthermore, in episode 1 of Pyramid Game, Myung Ja-Eun asks Sung Soo-Ji what day it is. When she realizes that it is Thursday, she asks her to rush to their classroom. When Sung Soo-Ji returns to the classroom, she sees another student, Seo Do-A (Shin Seul-Ki) conducting some sort of a game. She tells her all the rules about the game and it turns out to be a popularity ranking game, called the “Pyramid Game”.

In this game, students have to vote for five students. The number of votes will then decide who comes under which group, including Groups A, B, C, and D. But if any student fails to receive even one vote, they will fall under Group F. It means that all the other students can bully them whenever they want and however they want. The bullying then leads to extreme school violence. That day in episode 1 of Pyramid Game, Sung Soo-Ji does not get any votes and becomes a Group F student. Thus, everyone starts to violently bully her.

But Sung Soo-Ji is not someone who gives up easily. Thus, she tries to find out who has started the game in the first place so that she can use it to her benefit. Although she initially thinks that a popular student who is also a trainee, Im Ye-Rim (Kang Na-Eon) is the mastermind behind the game, she soon finds out that it is Baek Ha-Rin (Jang Da-A).

At the end of episode 1 of Pyramid Game, Sung Soo-Ji is completely shocked after realizing this as Baek Ha-Rin has been quite nice to her since she joined Baekyeon Girls’ High School. The episode ends right there.
