Reply 1988 co-stars Ryu Jun-Yeol and Hyeri have reportedly split after seven years of dating. The news was confirmed by the former couple’s respective agencies to NewsN. The duo confirmed their relationship in 2017, and since then, they established themselves as one of the power couples of the Korean entertainment industry.

The news of their breakup comes as a shock to fans rooting for their relationship all these years. Ryu Jun-Yeol and Hyeri went public with their relationship in August 2017, a year after the two starred in the hit K-drama Reply 1988. As per the report, the two have decided to continue as friends and colleagues, supporting each other every step of the way.

As mentioned earlier, Run Jun-Yeol, 37, and Hyeri, 29, met each other while filming the hit K-drama Reply 1988, which ran from November 2015 to January 2016. The drama follows the story of a group of friends and their families in an alley in Ssangmun-dong, Ssangpal-dong. The group navigates personal and professional dynamics while also giving viewers an insight into the 80s South Korea.

Ryu Jun-Yeol plays Kim Jung-Hwan, while Hyeri essays the role of Sung Deok-Sun. In the series, Jun-Yeol falls in love with her, but she gets into a relationship with Choi-Taek (Park Bo-Gum). While the two characters didn’t end up together in the series, the actors formed a close bond in real life, eventually announcing their relationship in 2017.

As per News N, both sides reportedly confirmed the news of their relationship with the statement, “They recently developed from close colleagues to lovers and are meeting cautiously.” The two have supported each other in their personal and professional milestones since then. As such, it came as a shock when the duo announced separation.

On November 13, 2023, both their agencies confirmed their breakup via an official statement to NewsN. Ryu Jun-yeol’s agency, C-JeS Studio, said, “It is true that he and Hyeri have broken up.” Meanwhile, Hyeri’s agency, Creative Group ING, also confirmed same, “It is true that she broke up with Ryu Jun-yeol.”
