Over the years, K-dramas have given us quite a few strong badass female lead characters who showed us the right way to slay. From Vincenzo’s Hong Chae-Jo (Jeon Yeo-Been), It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’s Ko Moon-Young (Seo Ye-Ji) to Hotel Del Luna’s Jang Man-Wol (IU) and more – the list goes on. Recently, Han So-Hee played Yoon Chae-Ok in Gyeonseong Creature and proved how strong a woman can be.

Even though the storyline revolves around a former Italian consigliere named Vincenzo Cassano, the main attraction of the drama is the female lead. The storyline revolves around a man, Jang Tae-Sang who lives life cautiously but after meeting Chae-Ok, he becomes more fearless. They team up together to fight against monstrous creatures.

Jang Man-Wol (Hotel Del Luna)

Hotel Del Luna is a popular K-drama where Korean singer and actress IU plays Jang Man-Wol, a hotel manager of a unique hotel where the customers are dead people. However, Jan Man-Wol is not a woman to mess with. She is cold, ill-tempered, and considered absolutely crazy. IU received a lot of appreciation for her performance in the drama.

Ko Moon-Young (It’s Okay To Be Not Okay)

It’s Okay To Not Be Okay is an emotional drama with a hint of quirkiness. Seo Ye-Ji plays Ko Moon-Young, the female lead of the series. Moon-Young is a children’s book writer who has quite a past. She was emotionally abused by her mother when she was young, she also suffers from anti-social personality disorder. Seo Ye-Ji portrays a fierce character through Ko Moon-Young.

The series also features Kim Soo-Hyun as a lead character.

Jeong Tae-Eul (The King: Eternal Monarch)

Kim Go-Eun plays Jeong Tae-Eul in the popular K-drama The King: Eternal Monarch. Go-Eun took everyone by surprise with her standout performance as Jeong Tae-Eul’s character who is in the police force and knows how to deal with difficult situations with upfront behavior. The series also features Lee Min-Ho as the male lead.

Do Bong-Soon (Strong Girl Bong-Soon)

If there’s a character that is built based on strength then Do Bong-Soon is the one. In the popular K-drama, Strong Girl Bong-Soon, Park Bo-Young as Do Bong-Soon has a superpower of immense strength which was passed down to her through generations. How she uses that power and deals with goons in the drama is commendable. It’s a rom-com series with a hint of thriller. Park Hyung-Sik plays the male lead in the drama.
