Allu Arjun became a pan-India star following the success of the 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise. The movie made millions at the box office and became the biggest blockbuster of his career. As the actor now focuses on the upcoming sequel, Pushpa 2: The Rule, reports of his fee hike are making rounds.
The Pushpa franchise is one of the most successful and bankable films in Indian cinema. They also gave rise to Allu Arjun’s popularity and fame. Following the success of the first part, reports have emerged suggesting that the actor increased his remuneration for the upcoming sequel by 50%.
Did Allu Arjun increase his fee by 50%?
According to Hindustan Times, a source close to the actor revealed details about his alleged fee hike. The source said, “At the moment, Allu Arjun is the most talked about actor in the industry, with almost every filmmaker expressing their desire to collaborate. That’s because they are witnessing the buzz around the sequel of Pushpa.” They added, “And it has led to a hike in the salary that Allu Arjun will draw from his project set to release on the Independence Day weekend,” the source added.
Allegedly, Allu Arjun had been charging about $12 million per movie earlier. However, amid the buzz around Pushpa 2, he has reportedly increased his remuneration to $18 million.
Talking about the hefty fee, the insider continued, “In fact, down in the south region, giving such a sum to an actor is becoming common. An actor’s fee is a major and significant part of the film’s allotted budget.” Therefore, Allu Arjun has also become one of the most bankable stars in India.
For the unversed, Pushpa 2: The Rule will hit the theaters on August 15, 2024. Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and others will reprise their respective roles in the sequel. Helmed by Sukumar, Mythri Movie Makers is bankrolling it on an alleged budget of $60 million. So far, the movie’s theatrical and digital rights have been allegedly sold.
