Maidaan Box Office Collection Day 1: Ajay Devgn’s Movie Has a Slow Start

Ajay Devgn’s recently released sports drama Maidaan received a sluggish start at the box office, which was highly unexpected. Despite releasing on the prime Eid holiday and receiving positive reviews from critics, it failed to roll in the expected numbers

This lukewarm reception is concerning for an Ajay Devgn holiday release. Maidaan could not meet the coveted 1 million USD mark. Maidaan stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao alongside Ajay Devgn in leading roles. The sports drama follows the life and journey of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.

Maidaan box office collection: How much did Ajay Devgn’s movie earn on day 1?

Maidaan’s subdued response matches the muted buzz prior to its release despite earning praise from critics and viewers. Tragically, the film struggled to maintain an audience occupancy rate above 16 per cent throughout the day.

The movie premiered for selected paid previews on Wednesday, April 10, earning a modest $3,11,670. It was followed by a full release on April 11, Eid, where it garnered only $5,39,379, according to estimates by Sacnilk which was not expected from a Ajay Devgn film of this stature.

The Amit Sharma directorial now faces a crucial period, with Saturday and Sunday extremely important for its box office performance. To show positive growth, the film must achieve extremely high earnings over the weekend to meet the box office expectations. Additionally, it competes with Akshay Kumar & Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Coincidentally, the action film also had a slow start, with collections amounting to $1.8 million.

Both films are currently facing challenges in recovering their production costs. The slow opening further complicates their journey towards profitability. However, with raging reviews, we hope that both films will make a solid comeback despite a slow start

As audiences await the weekend box office results, the fate of these movies hangs in the balance, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the film industry and the importance of sustained audience interest for commercial success.
