Rashmika Mandanna Addresses Criticism on Animal: ‘If You Enjoyed It, Just Leave It’

Rashmika Mandanna was last seen as Ranbir Kapoor‘s better half in Animal. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the movie became a massive success at the box office. However, its plot and theme became problematic to some people. While the discussion regarding the movie has been going on since its release, Rashmika recently addressed the backlash. Here’s what she has to say.

Rashmika Mandanna breaks silence on Animal’s criticism

Rashmika Mandanna is currently celebrating her 28th birthday. Ahead of her special day, the actress appeared in an interview with Neha Dhupia on her No Filter Neha vodcast. As per Hindustan Times, the actress addressed the reviews about her movie Animal during the conversation. Talking about the movie’s plot, she said, “He’s messed in the head and will go to any lengths for his father, that was engraved in my mind when I shot for the film. Nobody can do anything about it, it’s his story. If you want films to be raw, real, and correct, Animal is that. After watching it, to say it’s misogynistic or whatever…if you enjoyed it, just leave it,” the actress added.

Rashmika Mandanna also talked about her dialogues in the movie, which became subject to trolls. She said she is fine with people trolling her dialogues. Further in the interview, the Pushpa: The Rise star also mentioned one of the scenes in the movie and revealed that it was fine when they shot it. However, the audience did not respond to the scene as the makers had anticipated.

The Geetha Govindam star said, “Everyone loved the Karva Chauth scene on set, but then the trailer came out and I was trolled for it. In my head, I had nailed this nine-minute-long scene. Am I living in a bubble? I know everything I do isn’t cool, but I didn’t understand this. However, when majority of the audience liked my performance in the scene when the film released, my gut was right.”

Despite the reviews, Animal was a blockbuster. The movie is currently streaming on Netflix, and it broke a few records.
