Despite the excitement surrounding the project, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali recently shared a surprising revelation about his initial doubts regarding the casting of Diljit Dosanjh as the legendary Amar Singh Chamkila. In a recent interview, Ali confessed, “I wasn’t sure whether it’s gonna work out with Diljit for some reason. I thought he might not be able to do it, etc.”
However, Imtiaz Ali’s skepticism quickly dissipated upon meeting Dosanjh. “The moment I spoke to him, it was just like a different chapter,” Ali remarked, expressing his newfound confidence in Dosanjh’s ability to portray Chamkila convincingly.
Likewise, Diljit Dosanjh himself had reservations about the film initially. Reflecting on his initial thoughts, Dosanjh admitted, “When I got to know that a Bollywood film is being made on Chamkila, I thought what (kind) of film will they make.”
However, upon gaining a deeper understanding of the director’s vision and certain aspects he wasn’t unaware of, Dosanjh’s decision to feature in Netflix’s Amar Singh Chamkila was solidified.
