The cast for Sunny Deol‘s highly-anticipated Lahore 1947 is turning into a star-studded affair after the news of another actor joining the movie.
Rajkumar Santoshi is directing the movie with Aamir Khan Productions as producer. It is touted to be a partition drama based on Asghar Wajahat’s cult play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai. Lahore 1947 will also star Shabana Azmi and Mona Singh, among others. Aamir Khan will reportedly make a guest appearance in the movie, and the official release date is yet to be announced. However, it is expected to release on Republic Day 2025.
After the news of Preity Zinta and Abhimanyu Singh joining the cast, it has been reported that Ali Fazal would also star in the movie.
Ali Fazal to star in Lahore 1947
As per reports, Ali Fazal has joined the star cast of Lahore 1947. He is popularly known for portraying the iconic character Guddu Bhaiya in the web series Mirzapur. Apart from OTT, the actor is also famously known for his characters like Zafar Bhai in the Fukrey franchise.
Director Rajkumar Santoshi shared his excitement about teaming up with Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol. He said, “Lahore 1947 is a very special film, emotionally attached and very important project in my career. Also, it’s a reunion with the most talented people. I worked with Aamir in Andaz Apna Apna, and this time, he is collaborating as a producer. On the other hand, with Sunny Deol, we made the most loved films like Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak.”
Lahore 1947 will see Sunny Deol, Rajkumar Santoshi, and Aamir Khan team up for the first time in a project. However, the duo of Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol are known for previously working together in movies like Ghayal (1990), Damini (1993), and Ghatak: Lethal (1996).
