Nitesh Tiwari‘s highly-anticipated movie, Ramayana, is looking to add yet another star to the cast after Ranbir Kapoor.
While Ranbir Kapoor will be seen as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi will portray the role of Sita along with Yash as Raavan. Actor Sunny Deol is also expected to join the cast as Hanuman. Director Nitesh Tiwari is planning to start filming for the movie by March 2024. It is scheduled to be shot at Film City, Goregaon. It will be the first part of the trilogy and will hit theatres in 2025.
As per recent reports, Naveen Polishetty has been approached to portray the role of Lakshman in the movie.

According to a report, director Nitesh Tiwari is planning to close the casting within the next two weeks. The source revealed, “Ranbir is playing Lord Ram while Naveen Polishetty has been approached for the role of Lakshman. Nitesh sir and the casting team want to ensure that the younger versions of Ram and Lakshman are in alignment with the actors playing the grown-up parts. At the moment, four to five young actors have been shortlisted.”
The team is also reportedly working on casting actors to play young Ram and Lakshman at the Prime Focus office in Mumbai. Throughout April and May 2024, the crew is scheduled to film multiple crowd scenes as well as certain combat scenes. They aim to finish these sequences before monsoon season hits the city.
Additionally, the visual effects team of the epic includes Nitesh Tiwari and the Academy Award-winning studio DNEG. As per reports, Ranbir Kapoor is also expected to attend a tech rehearsal at DNEG’s Los Angeles office. The source also shared that the makers will also fly down expert technicians from Los Angeles to help them get familiar with the process in the first few weeks of the shoot.
