Directed by Tharun Sudhir, Kaatera has successfully completed its 50-day run in theaters. During its celebration event, Challenging Star Darshan Thoogudeepa announced the release of his upcoming movie, Devil: The Hero.
For those unaware, Darshan Thoogudeepa’s latest film, Kaatera, was released on December 29, 2023. The film was produced under the banner of Rockline Entertainment and received massive positive reviews from the audience and critics. This resulted in Kaatera becoming the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2023.
The film features blockbuster actor Darshan Thogudeepa alongside Aradhana Ram, Jagapathi Babu, Shruti, and Kumar Govind, among others. Interestingly, Kaatera is Aradhana Ram’s debut movie. It is currently streaming on the popular OTT platform, ZEE5.

Aside from Kaatera, recently the makers dropped a glimpse of Darshan’s upcoming movie, titled Devil. On the occasion of Challenging Star’s 47th birthday, a 127-second glimpse video was released featuring Darshan in a menacing avatar. The glimpse indicates that he is playing a complete villain role.
Darshan Thoogudeepa’s Devil will be coming in 2024
To celebrate Kaatera’s 50-day theatrical run, the makers have organized a celebration event at the Prasanna Theatre in Bengaluru. During the event, Darshan was pleased with Kaatera’s box-office success and grabbed a mic to share his views. He shared that if stars like him do 2 films a year, then it will work toward the greater good of the Kannada film industry. He also spoke about the role that single-screen theatres have in ensuring that a film producer benefits.
Moreover, he was considering this very seriously and has even told the team of Devil that he wants the film in theaters later this year, as reported by OTTPlay.com. The Challenging Star told Devil’s director, Prakash Veer, that the film should, under all circumstances, be released in theaters by October of this year, just in time for Dussehra. Meanwhile, director Prem has also announced that his film with Darshan will be released in 2025.
It will remain to be seen when the makers of Devil announce its official release date.
