Mohanlal’s much-anticipated latest movie, Malaikottai Vaaliban, is all set for its digital release. Recently, the popular OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar has announced the Malaikottai Vaaliban streaming date.
The Malayalam period drama was released on January 25, 2024, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend. The film has received mixed reviews from audiences and critics. Directed by filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery, the film features Mohanlal as a warrior who dominates the land with his legendary strength. Moreover, Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Danish Sait, Manoj Moses, Katha Nandi, and Manikandan R. Achari have played prominent roles in this movie.
Moreover, made with a budget of $7.8 million, the film has been bankrolled by John & Mary Creative, Century Films, Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments, Saregama, and Amen Movie Monastery.
The creative director, Lijo Jose Pellissery, also revealed the plot by stating, “We are telling a story. I wanted to use a very Indian terrain and the characters to be rooted in that background. But I have taken elements from around the globe. From Japanese folk culture, the Samurai culture in Japan, from Westerns and so on. But I also wanted to make sure that it had no touch of the Western influence.”

Malaikottai Vaaliban initiated its box-office run with a decent opening. But later on, it experienced a gradual decline in its collection. Earlier, various reports hinted that the movie is arriving on OTT sooner than expected. Confirming the same, the popular OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar took to its X (formerly Twitter) account and wrote, “An epic tale of a warrior overcoming every challenge thrown his way – Malaikottai Vaaliban streaming from 23rd Feb in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.”
Meanwhile, fans who enjoyed the theatrical run can refresh their experience with its OTT release. Additionally, fans who haven’t experienced the journey of Malaikottai Vaaliban can now enjoy it from the comfort of their homes.
Overall, it is official that Malaikottai Vaaliban is scheduled for streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar starting from February 23, 2024.
