Animal Beats Prabhas’ Salaar on Netflix

Ranbir Kapoor’s latest action crime, Animal, roared at the box office. The movie opened up to mixed reactions but soon became a blockbuster. As the movie recently arrived on the OTT giant Netflix, it quickly dethroned Prabhas’ blockbuster Salaar. Salaar marked Prabhas’ comeback, as his previous films were highly criticized. However, Animal has scored a record viewership on Netflix and surpassed Salaar.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed Animal, which marked his first collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor. The film saw an ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandann, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Tripti Dimri, Shakti Kapoor, and more. Its plot revolves around a young man ready to go the extra mile for his father’s validation. He soon turns into an antihero during his quest for vengeance against those trying to kill his father.

On the other hand, Prashanth Neel directed Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, starring Prabhas. The movie also saw Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, and others playing key roles. Salaar follows the story of two childhood friends who become their greatest enemies. Along with action and drama, the film is an emotional ride.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal scores record viewership on Netflix

According to a report by OTTplay, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal has come out to be a winner on Netflix. The movie arrived on the streaming service almost two months after its theatrical release on January 26. Within three days, the film, across all its languages, has completed 20.8 million hours with a total viewership of 6.2 million. It can be said that this is a massive record for a movie that was digitally released eight weeks later.

Earlier, Prabhas’ Salaar was shining on Netflix as it topped its trending list. However, within ten days, the film’s Telugu version’s viewed hours reached 10.3 million with 3.5 million total views. Animal is still at the top of the trending chart of the streaming service, while Salaar has shifted to third place. However, Salaar’s Hindi version has not yet been released digitally.
