Randeep Hooda is all set to bring freedom fighter Veer Savarkar to life in his upcoming movie, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. The movie will also mark Randeep Hooda’s directorial debut. The official announcement of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar came in 2022 with a poster featuring the actor. Ankita Lokhande, Amit Sial, and Mark Bennington, among others, will reportedly star in the movie. Anand Pandit Motion Pictures, Legend Global Studio, and Legend Studios are producing the movie. It will have its theatrical release on March 22, 2024.
After garnering a lot of attention with its official announcement, the makers released the teaser trailer on May 28, 2023. The actor took to social media to share the clip along with a new poster. He captioned the post with, “India’s Most Influential Revolutionary. The Man most feared by the British. Find out #WhoKilledHisStory @randeephooda in and as #SwantantryaVeerSavarkar”

Swatantrya Veer Savarkar to release on March 22, 2024
On January 30, 2024, Randeep Hooda took to social media to announce the official release date for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. He captioned the post with “Two heroes of Indian Independence Struggle; One celebrated and One removed from History. On #MartyrsDay 2024 – HISTORY WILL BE REWRITTEN. #SwatantryaVeerSavarkar IN CINEMAS ON 22nd March, 2024.”
The video clip starts with a sketch that resembles Mahatma Gandhi, but when completed, it transforms into a sketch of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. The background music is a lively Marathi number, with a voiceover saying, “Mujhe Gandhi se nahi, ahinsa se nafrat hai (I don’t hate Gandhi, I hate non-violence).”
In 2022, the makers unveiled the first look of Randeep Hooda as Veer Savarkar. The actor shared the poster on social media with the caption, “This is a salute to one of the tallest unsung heroes of India’s struggle for freedom and self-actualisation. I hope I can live up to the challenge of filling such big shoes of a true revolutionary and tell his real story which had been brushed under the carpet for so long. Wishing you all a very Happy #VeerSavarkarJayanti!”
